Week 16 - Medieval Helmet

This week in Max I have been making a medieval helmet for my soon to be scene. I have been using planes modeling technique to model this object. So far there has been little to no trouble with modeling it, the shapes are not too overly complicated. It's mainly just curves and diamonds for the eye holes.

Week 15 - Getting back Into Max

Today I got back into max for the first time, and a very welcoming crash report appeared. My plans for the next animation is replicating a medieval scene. I'm currently cooperatively working with Cameron to achieve our goals of this scene, this will be a long project that will take some time. It will be well worth it in the end.

Week 14 - A Boat

This week in max I downloaded a file of a high poly boat from Turbo Squid and attempted to render it. After many crashes and failed attempts, I was finally able to render one image. This demonstrates the use of rendering to obtain interesting water, and wood effects.

Week 13 - Modeling Faces

This week in Max I've worked on modeling a face that would go with my plague mask. Once again I have used planes modeling to create this face, and also turbo smooth. Ask for texturing I am still unsure on how to approach such a task. The next step would be importing the two files with each other.

Week 12 - Browsing Ideas

This week in Max, I've been continuing to contemplate ideas for my next Max project. After many days of thought, I've finally come up with an idea that is possible, but challenging. I would like to create a scene that mimics a screen shot of a microscopic organism. The main challenge with this would be using mental ray rendering to achieve the desired effect of the scene.

Week - 11 Moving Up

This week I've been working on a simple model of a lizard creature. This is just continuing the basic practicing of planes modeling technique. The main issue with the model has been modeling the head of the lizard, which has proven to be a challenge. Overall I am pleased with the results so far, and might continue to work on it.

Week 10 - Rendering Techniques

This week in max I've been out if max, but I've been floating ideas around when it comes to rendering techniques. Mainly I have been looking into mental ray rendering, this rendering technique is very computer intensive, but has great results. Even photo realistic results can be obtained through this.

Week 9 - Mental Ray Rendering

This week in animation I've been thinking about modeling a scene that mimics a microscopic image. To get the desired affect mental ray rendering will have to be used. As for this project I will spend more time in the editing and rendering process than before, so that the final result will have a more polished look.

Week 8 - Anouther Project

This week I've started to explore different potential projects for the next three weeks. I was thinking about working with planes modeling again but spend more time with textures, the next object to model is still undecided. I will also work with bump map textureing in the future in order to give my animations greater detail.

Week 7 - The Final Result

This week I've worked on attempting to make bump mapping to be configured correctly. Unfortunately texturing the mask posed  a challenge too great to tackle with the given time period. I also put two free lights in the scene to give better lighting effects. Finally I used a line and path constraint to have a camera rotate around the mask. Overall the mask has turned out pretty well and I'm content with it.

Week 6 - Texturing in Max

This week in max I've been working on texturing my plague mask model. This process has been both challenging and enjoying. I've also used Crazy Bump, this program is able to take picture files and convert them to bump maps. Bump map textures would be key in this animation in order to add an extra level of depth. But unfortunately the bump map texturing process has been frustrating, tweaks still need to be made in order to further explore this option.

Week 5 - Planes Modeling

This week in max I've been working on plane modeling a plague mask from Europe. I've also used some reference images to attain a specific shape. The main challenge to this model has been learning planes modeling, the finished product is planned to be a detail representation of a plague mask. There's an open seam in the middle of the mask, this is for the symmetry tool so each side is exactly the same.

Week - 4 Outdoor Learning Environment

This week in max I worked on an outdoor learning garden, the basic design follows one fluid path through the garden. Another design thought was making a descending stage for presentations, this central point allows the viewers to have their undivided attention to the presenter. Plants are key for this environment for they add much needed flavor.

Week - 3 Designs

This week in max I've worked on a simple design for a bench, that could be used for the outdoor learning environment. One end of the bench has an extended table part to allow wheel chair access. The bench is made from simple box's, I also used the cloth modifier to achieve the table cloth effect.

Week 2 - Getting Back Into Max

This week has started slow because the class mostly consists of new animators, so the animation two students must wait to get the class going. The current project presented to us is to design an outdoor learning environment in max. Here is an example of some plans for an outdoor learning environment that could have a resemblance to the actual final product.

Week 1 - Call Me Night Hawk

My identity remains anonymous, my duty is to protect Gotham City. I'm the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So they'll hunt me. Because I can take it. Because I'm, not their hero. I'm a silent guardian, a watchful protector. A dark knight. This is the first week of animation class, I've created my first blogger account and will post animation and auto cad materiel on it.
